The astonishing agony and delight experienced at the Tax Office

I was just not aware of the fact that I would land up being a messiah when I was called to the Riverside Tax Office by the Deputy Tax Officer. But this acknowledgment was not to rest on my head unless and until I underwent some deal of discomfort.   I never actually thought getting a minor task done by state and local authorities could extend over a couple of painful hours as I somehow thought getting work executed there was just about an issue of “Much Ado about Nothing!” On receiving a call from the local Tax Office of Riverside asking me to arrive and collect my Tax refund cheque, barely I had an idea that it would be burdensome to get it collected albeit they themselves had asked me to come over and pick it up.   For my readers, I am recreating the incident here – On arriving at their office on Monday morning, I get to view there is a huge line of persons, all waiting to get their cheque in their hand!! Who doesn’t like money coming to them? Anyhow, amazingly, the line was falling a good length out of the office premises into the side lawn. I understood I had a long wait in before me.   My turn did at last come, subsequent to a tough two and a half hours, only to comprehend that I would have to wait for some more time as the bathroom faucet of the office washroom had become slack and refused to stop the water flow. Due to this, floor was getting wet with water. Wow!! I simply stood wondering what Riverside Plumbing had against me to have delayed my cheque!!!   I stood praying that God sends a few Riverside Plumbers to get this sorted immediately.   Suddenly, it struck me! I can try dismantling the faucet washer and lubricate it to make it firm once more. Therefore I volunteered to have a go at it. Within 5 minutes, I had the difficulty solved! I was so proud of myself. All tax officers thanked me generously. They felt I was this very skillful Riverside Plumber who came as their rescuer! Imagine!!   The cheque was handed over to me instantly, and I was also treated with full royalty and coddling.
